Church Security and Facility Use 10/15/2015tg

At our July 6th, 2013 Potluck and Social, I explained to all in attendance the new rules regarding gate security.  For those that missed this meeting, here is basically what I relayed to our members and guests in attendance:
1.  The south and east gates are unlocked at 6PM (or sooner if one of the key holders arrives earlier for set up and decorating) BUT they will be kept closed, giving the impression from the parking lot that they are still locked.  This will permit those arriving between 6PM and around 7:30PM access to the hall.  If you enter, please close the gate behind you.
2.  If you arrive "late" or have to leave and wish to return after the gates have been locked and we are still in session, please enter the walk through gate on the east side facing the North wall (going into the Memorial Garden area) and walk around the hall to the North Exit Door where we are meeting and knock to get someones attention to let you in.  If you have a cell phone, you can call me at 520-305-6976 and let me know you are at one of the main gates and I will come and unlock it so you can enter then it will be re-locked.
3.  If you need to leave before everyone else and the main gates are locked, you may exit through the Memorial Garden exit door and out the east walk through gate OR ask John Carl or myself to unlock one of the main gates so you can leave.
4. Although I did not mention this (most of our members are non-smokers), if YOU or YOUR GUEST ARE A SMOKER, PLEASE, no smoking on the church  grounds within the gated area or parking lot - if you must smoke, please go out to the side street on the south side - BUT - please do not expect John Carl or myself to be running back and forth unlocking and locking the gate so you can satisfy your habit!!
5.  Please respect the church property and rules

6.  On July 9th
, an email was received by all key holders responsible for the church security when their group is holding an event.  All key holders have been trained by office staff and have an alarm code in the event the alarm is in a "Red" armed condition.  Below, for your information,  is that email:

Dear Room Use Groups and Teachers,

Lately, we have had a number of alarm and safety issues.  I’d like to re-emphasize a couple of things:

1.     Always check the alarm box before going into any rooms.  If it is red, deactivate it.  Never assume someone else has already turned it off.  Because of the number of issues lately, be advised that any charges that occur from false alarms to the sheriff’s office, may have to be passed on to your group.

2.     Lock all the gates when you leave.  No matter who you think is here or not, all groups have keys, so no one will be locked in.  Just lock up when you go.  That way, if there were to be an issue, your group would be able to say, you locked everything up.  (I always suggest that once your group is here, that they swing the gate closed, just to be safer)

3.     Do not leave the key in the door lock.  This issue needs no other comments.

4.     This is a non-smoking facility.  No smoking is permitted on the premises.  Please go outside of the parking lot or across the side street to smoke.  And please, take care of your trash.

As most of you are aware, we are starting bathroom and courtyard renovations this month.  The restroom we will be having everyone use is in the hallway of Classroom #1.  The door to this restroom is the first inside of the south gate, before the Library.  We will have signs out for you.  If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

7.  Just as a cute little foot note -- there is probably a higher power than we realize regarding security at the gates - - are we prepared for the next stage?
