Gratitude for Positive People

In the October newsletter, we wrote about the turmoil created by our next-door neighbor in her effort to get MSN banned from the street as a "commercial venture" and for being a nuisance to the street.
I wrote to the  street association attorney with absolutely no mention of who the parties were who were involved and asked for the attorney's recommendations to our association Board since I wanted to ensure that there would be totally fair treatment by the Board of ANY homeowner's rights to their property.  The response from the attorney was clear that there have been no CC&R violations by our entertainment, including the fact that the CC&Rs specifically state that parking on the street is for guests who are attending social events and gatherings.  By the way, at our annual street association meeting, the Board did elect me to my 8th consecutive term as president of the association.
While we feel vindicated by the attorney's response, we want to request your continued support in respecting the needs and wishes of our neighbors on the street.  The vast majority of neighbors have expressed support for us and we are grateful for those positive attitudes.   We do want to honor the appearance and convenience of the street for other homeowners and request that you leave some parking spaces up and down the street, use the parking lot at the end of the street if you can use the exercise, and consider the lot catty cornered from our house across Limberlost.  Rather than fill every space in front of other people's homes, how about leaving spaces dispersed along the street.  That way no one can complain that his/her own guests have no parking space.  Also, keep in mind that your car should never encroach into their driveway (not even by an inch).  It is just a matter of respect and consideration of those around us.  We appreciate your cooperation.
This experience has reminded us of how grateful we are for the many positive friends in our lives.  The national tragedies, and such negative experience with unhappy neighbors, turmoil in families, etc., bear witness to the damage that can be done by negative, unhappy people.  The need for more tolerance in our lives is so obvious.  So thank you, guys, for the positive attitudes with which you surround us.  As we have mentioned in former discussion groups, we do make choices, and Les and I have obviously chosen to surround ourselves with positive people as our closest friends.  We certainly intend to reciprocate by providing positive energy to the lives of others.
Since November is the month we give thanks on that special holiday, we will be especially expressing gratitude for positive people who make our lives so much more enjoyable.  We sympathize with people whose lives are not filled with the happiness we enjoy.  Thanks for your friendship and support.
