Up Coming Special Event

Saturday, June 2, 2018
5:30pm - 9:00pm
Dinner
Monthly Pot Luck and Social - theme: Luau
Entertainment
Special for this event is
the feature movie:
"Stonewall Uprising"

The theme this month will be our annual "Luau" - wear your grass
skirts if you would like!! The Planning Committee has talked about
diversity in our monthly social gathering, among the ideas has been
a "Movie Night".

So with that in mind we will launch the idea and see how it is received.
Scheduled movie entertainment for those that wish to stay after dinner
and dessert is the feature documentary "Stonewall Uprising".
Synopsis: "It was the Rosa Parks moment," says one man.
June 28, 1969: NYC police raid a Greenwich Village Mafia-run gay bar,
The Stonewall Inn. For the first time, patrons refuse to be led into paddy
wagons, setting off a 3-day riot that launches the Gay Rights Movement.
Told by Stonewall patrons, reporters and the cop who led the raid,
Stonewall Uprising recalls the bad old days when psychoanalysts
equated homosexuality with mental illness and advised aversion therapy,
and even lobotomies; public service announcements warned youngsters
against predatory homosexuals; and police entrapment was rampant.
At the height of this oppression, the cops raid Stonewall, triggering nights
of pandemonium with tear gas, billy clubs and a small army of tactical
police. The rest is history. (Karen Cooper, Director, Film Forum)

The social evening will begin when the gate opens at 5:30, dinner is
now served promptly at 6PM with brief announcements after dessert.
Come out and get to know each other better - shame on you if you
don't meet someone new or reacquaint with someone you haven't
seen in ages tonight may be the night, we are after all social creatures
aren't we!?!?

We will be collecting the traditional participation fees tonight, $3.00 per
person if bringing a dish that will serve at least 8 guys or $5.00 per person
if no dish is shared. Main course items or deserts always popular. Birthday
cake will be provided.

Please, summer is back, care needs to be taken with keeping foods at
proper temperatures, especially cold foods. When arriving at the hall,
all foods must be "ready to serve", we no longer keep food in the ovens -
all foods are delivered directly to the serving line so that dinner can begin
promptly at 6PM!

Our Monthly Pot Lucks and Socials are usually planned for a
Member Guest Host to lead the event with Open Theme either
chosen by the guest host or otherwise regularly planned. If you
would like to Guest Host a month or you have a special Theme
you would like to present, such as a birthday party or anniversary
party for your special someone OR any other creative idea that
would interest "the gang" - please contact Thom at 305-6976 or
email him at msn.communicator@gmail.com and we can reserve
the calendar and plan the event.
